Three and a half stars
The premise was certainly interesting. A new reality show features a bunch of marine scientists sailing (around the world?). The main character joins because she always hypothesized the existence of an island completely isolated from the rest of the world. She wants to study the isolated ecosystem.
Naturally, they find the island and of course instead of a mostly peaceful ecosystem nearly everything is extremely deadly. (But apparently saltwater kills them which is why the creatures/plants have been trapped on the island). It did make me wonder what an isolated ecosystem would look like.
It was a fun read but I don't feel a need to read the sequel.
