I'd expected it to be better - - more like the Temprence Brennan of Bones
. If I hadn't had that in mind I may have liked it better. Then again, if I hadn't had that in mind I probably wouldn't read any other books in the series. But as it was I think the only similarities are the name and the profession.
It's mostly a style thing. I really dislike the "if I had only known then" or "I would come to regret" method of foreshadowing. And the bilingual thing was annoying since my high school French wasn't up to par and the French wasn't translated.
